The Effects of Stress on the Body
Stress actually comes in two varieties: eustress and distress. Eustress serves to help motivate us to get work done and can feel good when managed correctly, such as when a work project reaches its conclusion. However, when stress grows too great to handle, such as when a family member enters the hospital, the body experiences distress. Distress causes negative effects upon the body and can lead to poor decisions with symptoms that include over eating, high blood pressure, and trouble sleeping. While no person can completely remove stress from their lives, managing stress can help contribute to a healthier lifestyle.
